The Sandy Hooks fell on hard times on Saturday when they battled the Providence Grays at the inaugural Colt Meadows Invitational. 'The grass was long' was about the only excuse the club could muster for their miserable fielding and lack of hitting prowess. The sturdy group from western Connecticut tried to muster a come-back strategy but, the team was no match for the age-less Grays who always seem to find a way to win when all of their regulars are in uniform.

One crank was heard to exclaim..."It ain't a pretty sight when push comes to shove and the grizzly old veteran Grays take the field."

The Sandy Hooks look forward to future matches with the Grays and more memorable afternoons at Colt Meadows.

Special thanks go to the organizers of the event, Friends of Vintage Base Ball and to all who participated in the event.
